pont alexandre iii bridge

Hello!
You've chosen the Pont Alexandre III bridge location for your surprise proposal. It's an excellent choice!

Please read on to see directions to our meeting point.

GOOD TO KNOW

I can't wait to meet you and capture this incredible moment in your lives! To make sure everything runs smoothly, here's a few reminders.

STRICT POLICY - Lateness and No Shows
My top goal is to provide the very best service and experience for my clients, it means the world to me. This is a special day in Paris!

I know it's not alway easy to get your loved one to the surprise proposal meeting point. You may be running late, you may be caught in traffic, you may have gotten lost. I completely understand that!

That's why I have a 15 minute time grace window for all surprise proposals. That means, I'll hold your surprise proposal 15 minutes past our meeting time. For example, if your proposal was scheduled for 5:00 pm and you don't show up until 5:15 pm, I'll still be able to accommodate you.

However, if you show up at 5:20 pm or 5:30 pm, I won't be able to accommodate you and your proposal appointment will be canceled and is not eligible for refund.

There are factors due to your lateness that could alter your experience. If you show up late, for example, there could be a lot more tourists around and it will become more difficult for me to photograph you. Or, you could show up late and it will be too dark to create beautiful photos of your surprise proposal. My goal is to provide you the very best images from this magical day in Paris and an experience you'll always remember, being late will alter this experience. If you've done everything you can to arrive on time and you think you're going to be late, contact me via WhatsApp at 33 07 51 42 35 78 or via email at karina@karinaleigh.com

I require final confirmation contact from you before the surprise proposal at least 24 hours in advance. Please contact me to confirm via WhatsApp, SMS or email. email - karina@karinaleigh.com Whatsapp/SMS - +33 07 51 42 35 78 (dial 00 in front of the number if you're calling from a US SIM card)

Transportation

The key thing to know is that traffic is VERY heavy in Paris. Plan on it taking 45-60 minutes to get to our meeting spot, especially in rush hour. Rush hour in Paris is 7:30 - 10:00 am and 4:30 - 7:30 pm. Your best options for transportation are:

- Uber works well often, but they're also prone to canceling last minute after you're been waiting for a long time.

- A better option is to order a taxi from G7 Taxi, a professional taxi service in Paris. They have an app like Uber and you can reserve online. Their site is in English. You simply put in the date and time you wish to be picked up, pay online, and they arrive. You can reserve far in advance too. I have found them to be the most reliable and use them all the time. Please send me a photo
Please send me a photo of the two of you so I know who to look for. You can email me at karina@karinaleigh.com or send the photo via WhatsApp to 33 07 51 42 35 78.

SCENARIOS

Options for how your proposal will work

Let me know which "scenario" you want to use by emailing me at karina@karinaleigh.com. In other words, how we will meet.

The Tourist

COVERT

Randomly walk up to me and ask me to take your photo with your cell phone). This puts you in a good position, confirms that you're you and I'm me, and then you'll give me a bit of time to back up and photograph you with my professional equipment. I AM NOT PHOTOGRAPHING YOU ON YOUR CELL PHONE, I'll give it back to you, this is just a ruse.

Simply locate me, approach the area where I'm standing, as it will be a great location for a photo, allow me to move back to the wall, and then you can propose. Below is a video to explain the Covert scenario. PLEASE COME TO WHERE I AM STANDING, OTHERWISE YOU WON'T BE IN THE BEST POSITION FOR THE PHOTO

DIRECTIONS TO PONT ALEXANDRE

How to find the location

You've chosen to have your proposal at the bridge of Pont Alexandre III, with tremendous views of the Eiffel Tower from a distance. Great choice!

Pont Alexandre III is the most beautiful bridge in France, and has been used in many movies, such as Midnight in Paris. The final scene of the movie was filmed here. It offers a beautiful view in the distance of the Eiffel Tower and the bridge itself is ornate with many status.

There is no set address for the bridge, it's simply listed on Google Maps at the address of Pont Alexandre, 75008 (is the zip code, it's in the 8th arrondissement). Google Maps coordinates are V877+HC Paris. View the video here >> https://youtube.com/shorts/fhGxRAsfMCs

DIRECTIONS

- If you're staying close enough, I really recommend walking to the location. It's centrally located to the Champs Elysées, a major street in Paris.

- If taking Uber or taxi, allow plenty of time. It's recommended to allow 30-45 minutes as Paris traffic can be very heavy.

- If you're early, just wait for me, I'll be there! Just stop and admire the view.

- Visit the Paris transport site for specific directions, the site is in English. https://www.ratp.fr/en

METRO

Take line 9 of the Paris metro and get off at the stop CHAMPS ELYSEES CLEMENCEU. Then walk toward the Seine River, passing the Petit Palais and Grand Palais (do not go in the direction of the Champs Elysees.

Enter the bridge from the north side, with the Grand Palais and Petit Palais across the street. You'll be walking toward the building with the large golden dome. Once on the bridge you want to be ON THE SIDE WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE EIFFEL TOWER, the west side of the bridge. I'll be standing there, holding a space for you, simply approach me and you can take my spot as I move back. This is necessary because the bridge is very popular with tourists, and I don't want someone to walk in front of you when you're on one knee.

In winter, I'll be dressed like this, long coat, backpack and will pretend to be taking photos as a tourist would

This is a view walking south toward Les Invalides, the army museum. This photo shows the Grand Palais on the right. Simply cross the street and come to the right side, I'll be standing where the RED arrow is.

What if it rains?

Paris can be a very rainy town, it's very similar to the climate in London. Cool, cloudy and showers, are very regular from the months of October to April, and even in summer. An umbrella is an essential accessory in Paris, you never know when you'll need it.

Paris normally doesn't have heavy, drenching rain showers, usually the rain showers are light and come and go throughout the day. Also, forecasts cannot be trusted more than a few days' out, because weather conditions change frequently.

Will rain ruin your Paris surprise proposal? ABSOLUTELY NOT. While most of us would prefer. say, a 70 degree day and sun, there are hidden benefits to Paris in the rain:

- It's very peaceful, less tourists are out and we have more of Paris to ourselves, particularly near the Eiffel Tower

- Rainy photos are beautiful in Paris and are quite romantic

- The chance to cuddle under an umbrella with the one you love can be fun and unique, and very Parisian

What kind of umbrella is best?

The best type of umbrella for your Paris photo session is CLEAR. That way, we can still see what's behind you. If you can't find a clear umbrella, please try to bring one with color, and AVOID BLACK as this will make your face very dark.

But where to find such an umbrella? If you're already in Paris, the following stores have clear umbrellas:

- Monoprix stores (department/food store), all around Paris, in the clothing & accessories department (type the zip code in of your hotel to find the nearest Monoprix to you >> https://www.monoprix.fr/trouver-nos-magasins

- BHV Department store (52 Rue de Rivoli, across from Hotel de Ville, the Paris city hall)

- Printemps Department store (64 Boulevard Haussmann, near the Opera Garnier opera house)

- Galeries Lafayette Department store (40 Boulevard Haussmann, near the Opera Garnier opera house)

- Souvenir shops at Eiffel Tower Trocadero

- Souvenir shops across from the Louvre on Rue Rivoli

- Souvenir shops near Notre Dame Cathedral

- Souvenir shops near Sacre Coeur Basilica/Montmartre

- Paris kiosks, where they sell newspapers and magazines, they are green and located on many street corners

I don't want to be photographed in the rain, what are the options? Can I cancel?

But what if the rain just bothers you, and you want to reschedule or cancel all together? You can of course cancel, however the non-refundable retainer is not refundable. I'm not often able to reschedule, but you can also request a reschedule, if I'm not available to reschedule, the retainer again, is non-refundable.

For many people, visiting Paris can be a once-in-a-lifetime event, so don't let a little rain spoil your fun, stay dry, and bring your umbrella! :)

You can view a video here regarding rain>> https://youtu.be/A6SZ0uodo5s

What should I wear?

Paris is a dressy kind of place, so it's really fun to dress up! It's also a good ruse as in the evening you'll probably be going to a nice dinner, so your partner will be dressed up too! If you’re more of a casual couple, then just wear what you’d normally wear for a day of sightseeing. However, in my experience, most people who are proposed to, feel better if they’re in an outfit they like, and look their best (i.e. hair & makeup).

How do I decide my location?

The best Eiffel Tower location for the most private views is Eiffel Tower Riverside. Passerelle Debilly is also quite nice. If you don't require an Eiffel Tower view, there are many other options listed in this document. Select a location from this document above, these are the absolute best locations in Paris.

How do we get to the proposal spot?

Most couples take a taxi or Uber, but you can take the metro too or even walk.

How does it work the day of the proposal?

Do you hide behind a tree? How do I find you?

When I started photographing surprise proposals in Paris, I wondered where I could hide so that clients would not see me, and I realized in short order it was impossible. Paris is a city with magnificent architecture, but not a ton of trees and also as one of the busiest cities in the world for tourists, it's nearly impossible to really hide anywhere. That's why I developed my "scenarios".

What is a scenario?

It's how we make the whole Paris surprise proposal magic! It's how we meet and pull it off expertly. It may sound complicated, but actually it’s super easy!

Here are the scenario options:

The Tourist (randomly walk up to me and ask me to take your photo with your cell phone)

Covert (we don't interact, but you'll look for me and come to stand where I'm standing, this scenario is only possible in a few locations, Eiffel Tower Riverside being one of them)

You Hired a Photographer (tell your loved one you’re just doing a photo session to capture your time in Paris)

You Hired a Tour Guide (a tour guide to show you around Paris)

Scenario Option: The Tourist
The point of this scenario is to establish a “zone” so that no tourists walk in front of you as you're on one knee. Paris is a super busy place. I’ll give you the exact meeting spot and tell you what I look like so you can spot me quickly. Then, you just approach me and ask me to take a picture of you and your partner with your cell phone (tourists do this all day long). I’ll hand your phone back, and from there you can propose. Then, I take images with my professional camera. Please note, I give you your phone back, so please take it back and then put it in a safe place before you propose.

Scenario Option: You Hired a Photographer

Another idea that some clients prefer is to hire a photographer for a photo session to capture your Paris memories. It is Paris photo session, but with a proposal thrown in! You just tell your significant other that you thought it would be nice to have some photos taken together in Paris.

Scenario Option: Covert

There are a few locations and situations where I don’t need you to employ any of the above scenarios, you can just show up and we won't interact because it's not necessary. Instead, I'll instruct you to look for the spot in which I'm standing, you'll approach this spot, I'll back up and capture the magic! This is possible in just a few locations (the rest are too busy), so ask me if you have any questions.

Do you offer video?

At this time, I personally do not offer video services but can help you find a video person for your surprise proposal.

What other options are there?

You can add on a bottle of fine French champagne & 2 glasses. There's also the possibility to hire a violinist to serenade your loved one.
